Neurofeedback technique applied to addictions

ADDICTIONS

Addiction is characterized by a compulsive consumption and search for a substance or activity that seriously affects the mental wellness of a person. When consumption is carried out continuously, the ability to exercise self-control is clearly affected, so it is, this inability to self-control the factor that defines addiction.

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive technique that helps patients to regulate emotional stability, providing both physical and mental calm.

It favours the mental reinforcement of the person facing the change, thanks to empowering the decision making through an increase of the motivation and the self-esteem.

This therapy works with those areas of the brain that lead to dangerous or destructive instabilities and behaviours.

Neurofeedback treatment works with those processes that remain unconscious and escape from our rational control. The objective is to train the brain so that the individual learns to exercise control over these processes.

In this way, the person suffering from addiction is able to self-regulate by optimizing brain functioning for emotional stability as well as decrease and elimination of dependence.
